What is this all about?

Our latest project is totally interactive. It's a murder mystery which will unfold over a number of weeks. As clues become available, news and video clips will be added to the website enabling you to work out who is the murderer, what was their motive and how did they commit the terrible deed.

So you're not making a DVD this time?

Highlights of the whole project will be available at the end on DVD for those who are interested in a permanent souvenir, but the whole purpose of this is interactivity.

What do you mean "interactive"?

There's a forum where you'll be able to question the suspects. You can also make requests to the private detective to investigate certain things. The conversations on the forum will help us to shape each week's filming.

So this will be posted on the internet before it's been completely filmed.

Absolutely! We'll be filming the opening sequence and putting it up for interrogation. You'll then have a chance to question the suspects, some of their answers will be on the forums, others replied on video. This is a totally interactive film.

I'm not very good at working these out! How difficult is this going to be?

It's a bit of fun, and the script is a farce and not meant to be taken too seriously. The clues are there for you to work out and if you can't, you can still enjoy the main story. But the suspects will not be allowed to tell lies, so if you question them enough, you will get the answers you need.

How often do I need to check the website?

There will be new posts several times each week. Also the forums will be live so conversations could be going on all the time. However, if you've got a life, if you're busy or away for a few days, you'll be able to catch up when you return since most of the videos will stay on line until the end.

Could I just log on at the end and work out the solution?

Well, yes, you could. But you would lose out on the fun of "getting involved". Also there will be extra clues for regular site visitors - videos which will only be available for a very short space of time.

How will I know when a major event has been added to the website?

You will be able to subscribe to our mailing list. Then you'll receive an email when there are exciting breakthroughs.

How long will the game last?

It will run for several weeks, possibly even longer. It depends how quickly it is solved.

How will we see the solution?

As with all VideoMajic projects, there will be an local screening of the completed project together with the full solution. Once that's been held, the solution will be posted on the website.

I'm not part of VideoMajic. Can I still play along?

Of course. The forums are open for all to join in, as long as you keep to the subject of the game. We don't have enough bandwidth or webspace to run chatrooms, but you're welcome to pool your thoughts with others. The website will also be monitored constantly and any offensive remarks will be deleted. Also, bad language is automatically removed. This is a game for all ages and we want everyone to feel welcome.

Will the actors and actresses know the solutions?

No. Bribing the actors won't help. In fact, they will know little more than anyone else, and you will find that many of them will also be playing along. They will be fed the information on an as-required basis which will allow them to participate in the enjoyment of the game.

Sounds great. When does it start?

Characters are already recording their first handful of links. Conversations should start towards the middle of August, and the murder is anticipated to be discovered in the first week of September. Of course, all dates are tentative. It all depends upon the forums

How much will it cost to enter?

Nothing! This is just for fun. No entry fees - no prizes. We're making an interactive film, and that's it. Just enjoy it.
